so i have been working on artworks;
in short, a large lightbox etching out a vision of my dream life fantasy,
to donate to the UIA charity event, Culture Club.
Also my short illustrative film Dark Side of the Sunny Moon will be screening throughout the night.
On next Thursday, 2 APRIL, Oxford Arts Factory
A little bit more about the event and the charity:
This is an event exhibiting works by 5 of each Jewish Artists, Fashion Designers and Musicians in Australia. INCLUDING fashion by Josh Goot, Camilla and Mark, Bec & Bridge, Cohen et Sabine, Marc Lipsitz, Cara Stricker (me), Jordana Maisie, Wayne Ash, Dan Segal, Bianca Spiegel, Grassy on the decks plus live jazz and more....
Each of the 5 pieces of art as well as the 5 pieces of fashion pieces will be auctioned on the night via a silent-auction, with all proceedings going to the UIA projects.
What is the UIA project:
The United Israel Appeal (UIA) is a worldwide organisation. 92 cents of every dollar raised goes towards designated causes.
2009 Causes are focused on:
Youth Futures
This is an educational initiative which addresses the needs of thousands of Israeli Children and youth at risk between the ages of 6 and 18 years.
They provide interventions enabling the youth to become independent and productive members of society. This is done by assisting the youth to develop their unique skills and talents in order to break out of the cycle of poverty and underachievement.
Th Ayalim Project
This project is a new model of settlement and social action in which vision and reality go hand-in-hand. By offereing housing and academic scholarships in return for community service, this initiative provides young people with the opportunity to settle into Israel's Periphery and serve as agents of change.
The Ayalim Project promotes 3 goals:
- To reinforce the settlement map in the Negev and Galilee
- Education on Zionist values and mutual support for Israeli society
- Promote actions that can redeem peripheral areas from the cicle of abandonment and crisis.
